SEPA - Scottish Environmental Protection Agency:
If people within our community are worried about flooding and wonder if there's anything you can
do to be better prepared then look no further. Floodline, Scotland's free national flooding information
and advice service, can be accessed by phone on 0845 988 1188 or online at
www.sepa.org.uk/flooding.
It's run by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and our
highly trained staff can tell you if you live within a flood warning scheme area, if any flood watches
or warnings have been issued for an area, and can also provide practical advice on what to do
before, during and after a flood.

Due Soon: The south prom is now in excellent condition.
The local council staff do a great job keeping the proms clean, flower beds planted and beautifully tidy,
and those chip pokes bagged and binned. There are dedicated staff at the NAC, but there's clowns there too.
Which is why no money is spent on items like cycle tracks,
skateboard parks
or other leisure facilities, and why there's nothing for youngsters in this town to do.
Public Computer facilities: Largs Library in Allanpark Street
- £1.50 per hour. There are four computers, comfortable seats and colour printers.
Largs Library has computer facilities as does Millport, but hopefully
the prices will come down to make it cheaper for job-seekers to do their CV,
or search the internet for jobs.
Public Internet access:
Largs Library: £2.50 half-hour.
Flannigans: £1 for 10 mins. Millport none, but six computers with internet access
are planned for some time in 2001.

We want up-to-date details and contacts for schools nurseries and churches,
clubs and societies, doctors and dentists, help and official
contacts; the Community Council, the Largs Initiative, Round Table, Junior Chamber, Over 41 club,
Rotary club, Masons, Opportunities in Retirement, Business Club, FSB,
Helter Skelter (opening times Mon-Thu 7pm-9pm, Sat 2pm-5pm, Sun 2pm-5pm and 7pm-10pm),
and all the others in Largs are invited to send your details, articles too.
Material in some electronic form is preferred, even email. Better still if we
can copy pages from your own website. Don't worry about fancy clever looks, it's the
content which is important. Your word processor may have a "web publishing" option" which is
fine. We also want direct involvement from under 18's who
are rarely considered in plans for the town.
